Attachment-Based Therapy - "We're only as needy as our unmet needs" John Bowlby -
Attachment-Based Therapy focuses on understanding how early relationships and life experiences shape the way we connect with ourselves and others. Our earliest attachment experiences often influence how we experience closeness, trust, safety, emotional regulation, self-worth, and relationships throughout life.
When attachment wounds or relational trauma occur—whether through inconsistency, emotional neglect, loss, criticism, instability, or other painful experiences—we may develop protective patterns that once helped us cope but may no longer serve us in the present. These patterns can show up as anxiety, people-pleasing, fear of abandonment, emotional shutdown, difficulty trusting others, perfectionism, relationship struggles, or feeling disconnected from oneself.
Attachment-Based Therapy offers a compassionate and relational space to explore these patterns with curiosity rather than judgment. Together, we work to better understand how past experiences may continue to influence present emotions, behaviors, relationships, and internal beliefs. Through this process, new experiences of safety, connection, and emotional attunement can begin to emerge.
My approach integrates attachment theory with depth-oriented, trauma-informed, and expressive therapies, including EMDR, Sandplay Therapy, Therapeutic Art, SoulCollage®, mindfulness, and inner child work when appropriate. These approaches can help access and process emotional experiences that may be difficult to fully express through words alone.
Attachment healing is not about blaming caregivers or reliving the past endlessly. It is about increasing awareness, understanding protective patterns with compassion, and creating space for healthier ways of relating—to yourself and to others.
This work can support individuals struggling with:
Therapy is a collaborative and self-paced process. My intention is to provide a safe, supportive environment where healing can unfold gradually, allowing you to reconnect with your authentic self, strengthen emotional resilience, and build more secure and meaningful relationships.
